Big tango events in Slovakia
- Bratislava Tango Party (BTP) is the international tango marathon that is held annually (in June) in Bratislava. It has been held since 2015 and there are about 200 participants who register from around 20 countries. It is advisable to register at the BTP early enough and one must register for the whole event.
- Bratislava Tango Festival (BTF) is a great international tango event with circa 500 participants from 50 countries, with 10 milongas and tango workshops in the course of 5 days. It has been organized once a year (in October) since 2017 in Bratislava. The event hosts several master dancers who lead workshops and give performances at night milongas. Already the first year of its existence, the BTF was very successful (the gallery of videos and photos taken at BTF 2017). It is possible to register for every particular milonga and/or workshop at the BTF event, but many milongas become sold out soon after the registration is open.
- Note: The BTP event as well as the BTF event is organized by Tango Vida school based in Bratislava, whereby Tango Natural Beograd (Serbia) is also the co-organizer of BTF. If you have not attended the BTP or BTF so far, definitely attend in the upcoming year!
- New Year´s Day Milonga Abrazo with live music – during the first weekend in January every year, Tango Abrazo school organizes a tango weekend with international guests in Bratislava. At a grand Saturday milonga, dance music is played in turns by a host DJ and live performing tango orchestra. During this weekend there is a workshop held with host teachers, too. The said event has been organized regularly since 2016.
- Bratislava Tango Ball – New Year’s Eve Milonga – (December 31th) – the first bigger and official New Year’s Eve tango event in Slovakia has been held since 2018.
- Fatango is a smaller music festival of Argentine tango which is held in the town of Nitra (in May, annually since 2015). It combines music concerts and seminars in the course of 2 days.
- Tango workshops – in Bratislava a weekend workshop is held approximately 8 times a year with host foreign teachers. Minimum once a year a similar workshop is organized in the towns of Banská Bystrica and Košice, too. Milonga with the performance of the teachers is usually part of the workshop.
